Delhi hosts Artist Event Cricket League season 7 opening ceremony with star-studded performances

Delhi [India], September 14, 2025: The seventh season of the Artist Event Cricket League (AECL) opened with a dazzling ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, bringing together political leaders, celebrities, artists, and sports enthusiasts under one roof.

Ministers and Leaders Unveil Trophy

The event was inaugurated by senior BJP leaders including Pravesh Verma, Kapil Mishra, and Manoj Tiwari, who unveiled the Season 7 trophy to mark the start of the week-long T10-format league.

Entertainment Meets Cricket

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere were performances and appearances by well-known names such as Milind Gaba, Paras Chhabra, Kaptaan Ladi, Shubhankar Mishra, Shadab Faridi, and Ashok Mastie.

Singer Milind Gaba, who has been associated with AECL since its inception, said, “AECL has now completed seven years, and I have been part of it from the very first season. This league is special because it brings together artists and cricket lovers in a unique celebration of sport and entertainment.”

Founder Highlights Growth and Social Impact

Founder Ashish Mathur emphasised that the league has grown beyond cricket into a festival of community spirit. “This year, along with more teams and celebrity participation, we have also partnered with environmental organisations. Every six, four, and hat-trick taken will translate into tree plantation drives in Delhi-NCR,” he said.

Teams, Celebrities, and Special Format

This edition will see 12 teams competing, featuring over 250 artists, anchors, musicians, and event professionals. For the first time, matches will pit celebrities against celebrities, with actors, singers, and industry figures facing off on the pitch. Team rosters include names like Manoj Tiwari, Paras Chhabra, Sumit Sethi, Amit Mishra, and Shadab Faridi.

Cricket with an Environmental Message

The organisers have also tied in a sustainability initiative: the MTM Foundation will plant trees based on match performances, making cricket a vehicle for environmental awareness.

Rewards and Recognition

The week-long event promises packed stands with music, cheerleaders from the Veda group, and a carnival-like atmosphere. Alongside entertainment, AECL offers lucrative prizes, including ₹15 lakh for the winners, ₹2.5 lakh for the runners-up, and individual awards such as Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Purple Cap, and Best Catch, with motorcycles, scooters, and merchandise as rewards.

New Franchises Join the League

The UP Dabang franchise, making its debut this season, described the league as an “unmissable opportunity” to showcase talent and promote sports among youth. “We are excited to finally be part of AECL. This platform connects artists, event professionals, and cricket enthusiasts in a way no other tournament does,” said team representatives.

Festival Spirit at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium

With dazzling lights, music, and a festive ambience, AECL Season 7 has transformed its Delhi venue into a mini-stadium, drawing comparisons to a “wedding celebration” by participants. As the matches unfold from September 14 to 20, the league looks set to deliver not only thrilling cricket but also a message of unity, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
