Delhi [India], August 18, 2025: It was a complete team performance by the South Delhi Superstarz Men as they won their third game in a row on a Sunday evening with a huge margin of 46 runs against the Purani Dilli 6 and climbed to the third position on the points table in the ongoing Delhi Premier League T20 Men’s tournament.
The opponent captain won the toss and elected to bowl first, but both the openers gave an energetic start to the Superstarz as Anmol Sharma and new opening batter Ankur Kaushik scored 70 runs for the first wicket and provided a strong platform for the upcoming batters which helped them to score 184 runs at the end of the first innings. Anmol Sharma scored another clinical half century and became the highest run scorer for his team with 58 runs including five boundaries and three huge maximums.
The Superstarz were able to set a challenging total of 185 for there opponents. The bowlers provided a dream start to the team by dismissing five batters inside the mandatory powerplay and rattled the batting line-up of the opponent team.
The leader of the bowler’s pack was Sumit Kumar Beniwal who took three wickets in the powerplay and completed his individual fifer of the match and received the player of the match award for his outstanding bowling and fielding performance. Aman Bharti and Abhishek Khandelwal also showed their consistency by taking important wickets at a regular interval with Abhishek taking 4 wickets in the second innings.
Ayush Badoni shared his thoughts after winning the game, “All credit to my pacers. We were close to a 200, but I was happy with the scored runs. I told the team to cover up those few runs with their disciplined bowling and tight fielding.”
Sumit Kumar Beniwal also shared his thoughts after receiving the player of the match award, “Team meeting emphasised on how we need to bowl for movement and captain showed a lot of support. We are at number 3, and we believe we will be number 1 soon.”
On the other hand, the South Delhi Superstarz women’s team also played a great game against North Delhi Strikers Women as the Superstarz women captain Shweta Sehrawat won toss and chose to bowl first. The Superstarz women restricted their opponents to just 58 runs at the loss of 2 wickets in 11.5 overs before the rain interrupted the game.
The game was called off due to the rain and both the teams shared a point, but the South Delhi Superstarz Women team displayed a clinical performance and looked in complete control of the game. They will play their next game against the East Delhi Riders Women on a Tuesday afternoon on 19th August.
