Delhi [India], August 14, 2025: The passage of the National Sports Governance Bill, 2025 and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha has drawn strong praise from sports industry leaders, who called the reforms a decisive step towards transforming India’s sporting ecosystem.
The Governance Bill introduces enforceable standards for transparency, athlete representation, and women’s participation in sports bodies, while the Anti-Doping amendments align India’s framework with international best practices.
Nasir Ali, Founder & CEO of Gallant Sports & Infra, described the passage of the National Sports Governance Bill and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha as a potential game-changer for Indian sports. Emphasizing that “good governance is the new gold medal,” he noted that while he has built sports facilities from Arunachal to Tamil Nadu, “stadiums don’t win medals, systems do.”
Ali said that, for the first time, Indian sports will have enforceable governance, athlete and women’s representation, and globally aligned anti-doping standards. He added that the real challenge lies in ensuring these laws are implemented not just in Delhi, but in every district, academy, and training ground across the country.
“Good Governance Is the New Gold Medal,” he said.
“I’ve built sports facilities from Arunachal to Tamil Nadu, but here’s the truth: stadiums don’t win medals, systems do,” he said.
“The Lok Sabha’s passage of the National Sports Governance Bill and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill could be the game-changer we’ve been waiting for. For the first time, Indian sports will have enforceable governance, athlete and women’s representation, and globally aligned anti-doping standards. This is more than policy, it’s the playbook for turning playground dreams into podium finishes. The next challenge? Making sure these laws are not just written in Delhi, but lived out in every district, academy, and training ground across India,” Nasir Ali, Founder & CEO, Gallant Sports & Infra added.
Udit Sheth, President of Yogasana Bharat and Founder & MD of TransStadia, praised the government’s role in ushering in change, saying, “We commend the leadership of Shri Mansukh Mandaviya ji and the Government of India on the successful passage of the Sports Governance Bill in the Lok Sabha. This landmark reform marks a decisive step towards strengthening transparency, enhancing professionalism, and fostering athlete-centric governance — paving the way for a stronger and more accountable sporting ecosystem in India.“
The legislation is being hailed as the most significant sports reform since Independence, with stakeholders hopeful it will set the stage for India’s emergence as a global sporting powerhouse.
