Panaji (Goa) [India], October 21, 2025: Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Tuesday launched the logo and anthem of the 2025 FIDE World Cup. This prestigious international chess tournament will be held from October 31 to November 27 at Resort Rio, Arpora (Bardez), Goa.
After 23 years, India will once again host this world-class chess competition. The tournament will feature 206 players from 82 countries, competing for a prize pool of USD 2 million. The winner will also earn a place in the 2026 Candidates Tournament.
India’s top chess players — Gukesh D., Arjun Erigaisi, R. Praggnanandhaa, Vidit Gujrathi, and Nihal Sarin — will participate alongside several international grandmasters. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Argentine prodigy Faustino Oro will make history as the youngest participant in the tournament.
The logo reflects Goa’s culture and natural beauty — featuring a white coconut tree and blue waves on a green panel, a diamond-shaped white chessboard design on a red panel, and rays of the sun on a yellow panel, symbolizing Goa’s warmth and vibrancy.
The anthem, sung by renowned singer Daler Mehndi, celebrates India’s chess journey and its heroes — Tania, Gukesh, Humpy, and Vidit — as pillars of inspiration.
With its vibrant culture and scenic backdrop, Goa is all set to make this World Cup a memorable chapter in chess history.
