Day one of the tie saw India’s Sasikumar Mukund take on Togo’s Liova Ayite Ajavon in the opening singles match. Mukund’s experience and skill proved too much for his opponent, as he secured a confident win to draw first blood for India.
The second singles match pitted India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan against Togo’s Thomas Yaka Kofi Setodji. Ramanathan’s powerful serves and precise volleys left his opponent struggling to cope, ultimately resulting in a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory for the Indian.
With India leading 2-0 after day one, the doubles pair of N Sriram Balaji and Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli took to the court on day two, determined to seal the tie for their country. The Indian duo proved unstoppable, racing to a 6-2, 6-1 win in just 57 minutes. This decisive victory gave India an unassailable 3-0 lead, ensuring their spot in the Davis Cup World Group I.
Balaji’s exceptional serving was a highlight of the doubles match, with the Indian conceding just one point on his serve throughout the contest. This impressive performance, combined with Bollipalli’s solid returns, left the Togolese pair struggling to make an impact.
